This year Bukhari Tours UK is offering two trips to Palestine. One is the Protective Presence Trip and the other is The Taste of Palestine Tour, which is run in conjunction with The Amos Trust. Both of these trips are timed to coincide with the annual olive harvest, usually around the end of October.
We’re sorry not to be promoting the usual visits to Palestine for olive harvest season, until the danger of transmission of COVID19 is clearly past, we do not want to risk taking the virus into Palestinian communities. Palestine has managed the risk to health relatively well so far, especially given the lack of health infrastructure and density of population particularly in refugee camps and in Gaza.
If you have already expressed an interest in either trip, we will keep you updated with news of future trips. We also hope to bring you news of the harvest via interviews, video clips and other ways to stay connected with the farmers we support, over the olive harvest season.
Please subscribe to the Bukhari Tours UK newsletter to be kept updated and hear more about the farmers we work with and other news from Palestine.
The Taste of Palestine Culinary Tour is a 10-day trip with our friends at The Amos Trust based in the kitchens, restaurants and markets of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Sebastia and Nazareth where you will begin to understand the issues over the kitchen table. Spend time picnicking by the Sea of Galilee, cooking with families, harvesting olives and standing in solidarity with the communities in the South Hebron Hills. From Wednesday 9th to Friday 18th October 2019, this trip is full board and includes return flights from London to Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. The Protective Presence Trip is a chance for volunteers to spend a fortnight alongside the olive farmers in the groves and offer solidarity as they bring their valuable harvest home. Bukhari Tours UK works with the Friends of Madama and Burin to coordinate the teams’ placement within different villages in the Salfit and Nablus areas. All volunteers complete an initial application form, followed by a telephone interview and a training and assessment weekend in Britain before acceptance onto the team.
Please email us at Info@bukharitours.co.uk if you are interested in joining us in 2019 for two weeks of the harvest in Palestinian olive groves.
Note: All fares advertised are subject to availability and start from the prices we have mentioned. Fares are only guaranteed until ticketed. Offers may be withdrawn without any prior notice.
